Have a laugh on me

We're not all in the same boat, some of us struggle to even get in the boat!

I want to learn to fly a helicopter, see the northern lights and be more patient

Because dreams are free I’m going to divulge some of the things I’d LOVE to learn but through a lack of money probably never will.

1. To fly a plane, a helicopter and skydive solo (I’ve done it tandem).

2. I’d give anything to be able to drive a V8 car or Moto GP bike in a race without killing myself – yep I’m an adrenaline junkie!

3. Learn how to hike and ice walk well enough to climb Mt Everest – I’d also like to camp out in an igloo to watch the northern lights.

Here’s some things I WANT to learn one day and hopefully will without too much effort.

1. To play chess – the best I can do at the moment is backgammon!

2. Make a video for my kids with me speaking to each of them telling them a bit about themselves and a little bit about me and the Husband.

3. To surf, to sail, learn another language, reverse a trailer, drive a jet boat, play an instrument, learn to waltz/tango.

4. To dress in a way that really accentuates the good parts of my figure. The same goes with make-up, I want to know the tricks of the trade because as I age I’d like to do it gracefully.

This is a list of things I NEED to learn!

1. Patience, tolerance, understanding – not just for my own sanity but for the sake of my children, especially my third-born, 1.5-year-old, who freaks me out on a daily basis by doing things a three-year-old does and getting hurt because of it.

2. To slow down in all aspects of my life, from the way I rush around in the morning, to the way my kids have to run to keep up with me at the shops. I also need to slow down and remember that life isn’t a race it’s a journey so it’s fine just to sit down and ‘be’ without feeling guilty.

3. That I should embrace every moment with my three young children – they are the most precious gifts I will ever receive.

So what is the one thing you DREAM to learn, WANT to learn and NEED to learn?

Author: Have A Laugh On Me

I'm a mum to three, write from home and I rarely cook, craft or clean but admire those who do. I try to live by the mantra that there's no point in worrying about something that might not happen! Be warned this is not a fluffy, sweet mummy blog, rather a place where you can cringe, laugh and be shocked at my brutally honest take on my life.

  1. oooh love the fly a helicopter one and V8 car one. I’d love a lap in a V8! Mike and I contemplated ballroom dance lessons for a little while but who has the time or money?! It is hard to learn patience. No matter how much you love your kids they still have the ability to drive you absolutely batshit insane and then before you know it they’re grown up and you can’t get any of that precious time back. It’s just very hard to remember that when you want to lock them in their room and pull your hair out.

  2. I am with you on the learning of patience – teenage son does test me 24 hours a day.

  3. I love this list. Is there room for one more in your igloo as I would love to see the Northern Lights? Slowing down and enjoying the journey is such a hard skill to master. It is certainly something I need to work on.

  4. Dorky I know, but I would love to learn to knit. I need to learn to slow down, especially when the situation is already hairy (I use to be good at ‘under pressure’). I have a 1 year old that has no fear too, scares the bejeezus out of me and makes me laugh at the same time. And if I see you walking around with make up like that, is it ok if I slap you 😉

    • Not dorky – have you tried Rita’s tutorial – she’s at The Crafty Expat and has a great few blog posts on how to knit! And what is it about our young babes that seem to think they are bullet proof – stresses me out! You can totally slap me if you see me with horrific makeup on xx Em

  5. Good luck with your lists!! I think I need to start making more lists as funny as that sounds!!

  6. I would love to know how to play piano, but I’m lazy, I wish I just knew without having to LEARN ha ha ha …

  7. i am glad to hear i am not the only one with kids having to race to keep up with me at the shops

ditto on the makeup (god i loved mimi) – deb xx

  8. You are an adrenaline junkie, big surprise! I have no musical ability at all but it would be nice to learn x

  9. An adrenaline junkie learning to slow down, no, stop and sit down would be a challenge!

Can you believe I was on a tour, and unexpectedly, the Northern Lights did their thing, and the couple of people who saw them didn’t bother to wake the rest of the group!

  10. I am so with you on the chess! I am still stuck on snakes & ladders, whilst my 9 year old has mastered chess & back gammon!

But I can tap dance… does that count!

I love, love, love your photo! Fabulous! LOL

  11. Great list! I hear you on chess – I can do checkers but that’s about it so whenever we are on holidays with a chess board – we play checkers!

  12. How funny, lots of us can’t play chess – me neither, but since being put to shame by under 10s, I no longer want to learn! I hear you on the slowing down & “being” in every moment with my kids…sounds simple, so hard x

    • Yep it sounds so easy to just sit and be with your kids/partner but is the hardest thing to muster. I must learn before my kids get to the age when they can whip my ass! Thanks for visit and comment Shell – Em 🙂

  13. I want to see you do all of those things and read your blog about it. xxx
