The kids LOVED getting some hay - except the younger two were too scared to actually give it to the cows :(

Nanny and Oliver shared some button love! Back in the day, people used to take off all the buttons from clothes that had done their dash, this collection is from 1920s etc

Some of the books, original, that are in my parents book shelf - many 100 years old.

I'm a mum to three, write from home and I rarely cook, craft or clean but admire those who do. I try to live by the mantra that there's no point in worrying about something that might not happen! Be warned this is not a fluffy, sweet mummy blog, rather a place where you can cringe, laugh and be shocked at my brutally honest take on my life.

  1. Great shot of the cows; it’s like they’re posing for you!

  2. Oh man old buttons and old books, my heart just skipped a beat or two! And those cows are so beautiful, as are you and your gummies! I don’t get how people could be scared of them, (the cows that is not you in your gummies)

  3. I love that;s there’s so much history at your parent’s place!! Did Lara Croft wear gumboots?? heh.. I’m loving your girl’s pink ones! ;p

  4. OMG, those cows are beautiful, but very intense looking, I think I might be a bit scared too. πŸ˜‰ Great photos Em. xx

  5. You totes rock those gumboots!!! Love the farm pics, I was a bit devastated when my parents left the farm we grew up on knowing that my kids would never have that same experience! I think the country is such a special place! Thanks for taking me back there!

  6. love old books and buttons!!! wow thats so cool.. Love to visit a farm with the kids.. how cool!

    #WW visiting πŸ™‚

  7. OMG button heaven! My Nanna had buttons like that and they were the most awesome thing when I was a kid…and you look awesome in gumboots but think you need some polkadot ones!

  8. You look hawt in your gumboots! Love that your mum has kept the buttons, things with history fascinate me.

  9. Love the buttons, what an amazing collection. Looks like a fun weekend.
ps you totally rock those gumboots!!

  10. What a gorgeous place to visit. Very lucky kidides, My grandparents lived on a farm too and I used to LOVE going to stay with them when I was a kid. I don’t think my little one has ever seen a real cow – might have to organise a trip to the farm soon xx

  11. Yep, you are totally rockin those gum boots!

I would be in heaven looking at your parents bookshelves, I LOVE old books!

And I hate to say it but I hate cows. I’m not scared of them, I just don’t like the buggers, they have always caused me grief, getting in the way of my car, or escaping from their paddocks and having to be rounded up, or sticking their bloody heads in my car! “The only good cow is the dead cow on my plate” used to be my favourite saying!

  12. yep you totally rock those gumboots πŸ™‚
Love the photos of you down on the farm….. I can understand how the kids were too scared to feed the cows, they look so big!!

What a great place for children to grow up.

  13. Gummies! You look fantastic! Why don’t we start a new fashion revolution! I love farm holidays!

  14. Niiice boots πŸ˜‰ Wow I could get totally inspired by those buttons into doing something crafty, it’s happened before! I am very wary of cows, and sheep for that matter. Chased up one two many trees by a ram and nudged up the bum by a big black cow, and I didn’t like the way he was lining up the pram either like it was ready to charge. I don’t trust them!

  15. Great pics, it looks like you had a blast, and I am extremely envious of that old book collection!

  16. Totally lovely Em πŸ™‚ My daughter loves the front loader too ! hahaha

  17. Gumboots are my favourite footwear! So easy for the little ones to whip on and off, and I don’t have to worry about washing their ‘good’ shoes all the time πŸ™‚ Cheers, Alison

  18. Gumboots = WANT. But I think I need colourful ones!

  19. Gotta love gumboots!
And that book collection…Wow! Love the one there that says “Great Souls At Prayer” Beautiful!

  20. Haha, love the gumboots and cargos! BTW, I still take buttons off old clothes to add to my button collection – yeah, I’m a bit weird like that… My baby sits for hours (well more like minutes, but minutes is hours in baby time) in front of our front loader. πŸ™‚

  21. Em, oops I mean Lara, your gumboots rock!
Those books make me quite weak at the knees too, what a collection your folks must have. You’re so lucky to have a fabulous farm to get away to. xx
