On being a mother to five for the weekend – Wordless Wednesday

Over the weekend I was a mother to five kids under five-and-a-half-years old – now surely that deserves another trophy?

Ahhh - so peaceful just me, myself and I ...

It didn't last for long - I was soon bamboozled with love from seven gorgeous cherubs, just three of which were mine!

After having five young children under my roof for three nights – I’m not sure I will ever moan about my three again (yeah right).

Honestly though, to those who have lots of young children, I salute and admire you – but certainly wouldn’t want to be you – no offence!

Did you have a crazy weekend? How many kids do you want/have?

  1. I’m happy with 1. I get a second one 3 times a week, that’s enough! Nick just saw the pic and said “Who’s there instead of me?” 😦

  2. More than 1 is a nightmare!! We went on a picnic with close friends and there was about 100 kids there, the lunatics have taken over the assylum for sure!!

  3. One 2.5 year old kept me busy enough! Seven!! I bet they had a great time!

  4. But 5 suits you Em. Go another 2, I dare you 🙂

  5. Bless you Em, you gave someone a few days off. I had 5 boys 5yrs plus 4 x7yrs here one afternoon – they were fine outside but oh the worry of handing them back in one piece and feeding them all.

  6. I imagine it would’ve been a very noisy, action packed 3 days. Is your throat sore from yelling over the top of them?

  7. Whoa, that is A LOT of kids! I love the idea of having a large family but I don’t know how I would cope with the actuality of it!
    xx

  8. Welcome to my everyday with my 6!
Always can’t wait to push them all out the door, including Hubby, on a Monday! Lol!
Bet it was noisy for you. Nice pic to capture the memories!

  9. I have two and two is plenty 🙂

  10. And you’re still smiling!! That’s a handful hun xx

  11. I was about to say.. uhmmm there were 7 kids there… CRAZY!! 🙂 love that you are still smiling xx

  12. Wow! What loads of fun you guys must have! My kids hardly get to play with kids their age which is really sad.

  13. Good on you for braving so many kids for a weekend. I know that 3 is definitely enough for me!!!

  14. Crazy! Hats off to you. I always wanted two. Cam wanted four. I’ve come around to the idea of four, but we just have to play it by ear and see if (medically) it can actually happen. x

  15. Yep! That definitely sounds like insanity to me. Bet you were glad to hand a couple back!

  16. I have three all together. One grown up one and two who drive me bonkers, all day every day. My mum had five under five, and yes, she deserves a medal!! My littlest sis turned 36 last week and I turn 41 in a few weeks, I have to say there was a set of twins in between, after the sister I am now the same age as for 3 weeks 😉 Work that one out!!

  17. I admire my step-mother who had 6 of us (as teenagers) all living under the same roof. One weekends that number would often triple. She would just smile her way through it – amazing.

  18. The photo portrays a very civilised little gathering. What a gorgeous bunch! Cheers, Alison

  19. I love that you got seven young children to sit for a photo so nicely!! I would give you a trophy, I love the IDEA of a big family, but three kids is crazy enough! Good job, I am sure your help was much appreciated!

  20. Oh my goodness, this sounds like a crazy weekend!

I don’t have any children, but I do have a gorgeous niece and nephew who I am exhausted after looking after a weekend, I don’t think I’m ready for my own just yet…

    Zoe xx

  21. Good effort Em! That’s quite a tribe! Most of the time two is too much for me 😉 They must have had heaps of fun together! xx

  22. oh such fun….the more the merrier. Actually I miss not having little ones around all of the time. I would love to have more but hubby decided five boys was enough. I think that when they are little its hard work, but they get easier as time goes on – and having more than a few means that they can have more fun 🙂

  23. Beautiful pictures, you have to be very patient with young children, congratulations!

  24. Oh, they’re beautiful pictures. At least the weather’s been beautiful to get them all outside playing. I bet everything since then has felt just that little bit easier!

  25. Oh, wow Em! You deserve another trophy, that’s for sure!!! But look how happy you look to be surrounded by them. Showing your true maternal instincts 🙂 x

  26. We’re happy with 2. I’m out of hands! I always have an awe inspiring look on my face when I see school mom’s with more than 3. It takes a whole other kind of patience to take care of that many! Especially when I see a woman with 7!

  27. The word ‘saint’ comes to mind!
