Getting this close to the water is a big deal for my boy – he didn’t want to even come to the beach!

Oh crap, another wave was coming in close behind this one so it became a lot bigger than I, and he, expected!!!

I was convinced he would scream his head off and run away but this is him, minutes after – ready to face the waves again. I was so proud.
The ocean is a powerful thing and it should be respected.

September 4, 2013 at 9:37 am
What an amazing memory! I love the action shot. My three year old is scared of the waves, but we hope to break through that this spring/summer. I was such a little beach babe when I was her age 🙂
September 4, 2013 at 9:30 pm
It’s taken A LONG TIME, but I just kinda ignore him (in the nicest possible way) and didn’t make a big deal about it and he just gravitated towards the ocean! xx
September 4, 2013 at 9:49 am
I can just imagine how proud and excited you were for him when he went back in! X
September 4, 2013 at 9:30 pm
Yes Steph I was UBER proud when he didn’t give up! x
September 4, 2013 at 12:24 pm
Way to go H!! Very happy for him, but you’re in big trouble fi I’m singing chumbawumba all week!!!
September 4, 2013 at 9:31 pm
HA HA – I knew someone would get this link – I’m not surprised it was you! xx
September 4, 2013 at 1:22 pm
Darling, that’s awesome. Looks like he’s getting his confidence back x
September 4, 2013 at 9:32 pm
You know Jods, I think he is, kinda, he has his moments, but this was a BIG deal for me!
September 4, 2013 at 1:44 pm

September 4, 2013 at 9:32 pm

September 4, 2013 at 1:57 pm
OH! That action shot is ACE! What a great moment to watch him pick himself up and go again. Love a little resilience building! X
September 4, 2013 at 9:33 pm
I couldn’t agree more Bec, and it wasn’t me picking him up – he did it himself – BOOM! 🙂
September 4, 2013 at 2:17 pm
Nothing beats jumping through the waves 🙂
September 4, 2013 at 9:34 pm
I agree, well apart from being out beyond where the waves break and you are lying on your back looking up at the sky as those big troughs move you!!!
September 4, 2013 at 2:18 pm
He sounds so much like my Mr 19, who to this day says he “hates the beach” … but when we’ve dragged him there he always has a good time. He doesn’t like the sand. I’m beginning to wonder if he has some Aspie tendencies …
Great pix!
September 4, 2013 at 9:34 pm
Sand does suck BIG TIME I agree. My dad hates sand. xx
September 4, 2013 at 2:32 pm
What a legend! I was apparently terrified of the surf as a kid, but doesn’t it just feel amazing when you are out in it!? Love the actions shots Em!
September 4, 2013 at 9:35 pm
I ADORE the ocean, but it’s a wild and unpredictable best Nat that’s for sure. Action shots via iPhone 5 quite incidental! x 🙂
September 4, 2013 at 2:34 pm
Such a brave big boy, woohoo!! Fabulous shots Em xx
PS. thanks again for holding the fort over at my “house” yesterday 😉
September 4, 2013 at 9:36 pm
Oh gorgeous, I’m so glad I could be of some use!!! And I was very proud of my middle baby xx
September 4, 2013 at 4:16 pm
Fantastic pics…all three of my kids went through a stage where they were scared of the sand and/or waves. I understood the wave fear but not the sand :-). The beach is an awesome place for kids (and grown-ups). I’ve got to stop being lazy and get back down there. Glad to see your little cutie having a great time :-).
September 4, 2013 at 9:37 pm
I’m so glad to hear that my son isn’t the only one, he’s been exposed from a young age, but not a fan of water – he even hates our pool! But baby steps right? We might get there – thanks for visit and sharing Lynda 🙂
September 4, 2013 at 5:43 pm
Woohoo! I’ll be doing the same in about a month when the water is a bit warmer. I’ll have to show my poppet this, learn how to get back on the horse so to speak. What a little champion x
September 4, 2013 at 9:38 pm
If they’re not keen it’s so hard – I just ignored his hatred of the water, and walked with him to the edge and he did the rest. Thanks for lovely words Kim xx
September 4, 2013 at 9:10 pm
gosh they are such great shots – and he is so very brave!! Love his courage of going back for another wave even though he got knocked down 🙂
September 4, 2013 at 9:39 pm
Honestly I thought he would crack it til we went home! Love that he didn’t – shows me he is growing – A PROUD MUMMA! xxx
September 4, 2013 at 9:24 pm

September 4, 2013 at 9:39 pm

September 5, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Isn’t that great to see – that confidence building! Our son Hayden last Summer ended up so much braver than he had before – but now I have to be ready to get wet when he ends up upside down.
September 5, 2013 at 8:12 pm
Yes I was leaping in after Hunter but he seemed to be okay – love when they get more confidence!
September 5, 2013 at 1:41 pm
Good on him, I can imagine this must have made you feel so happy to see. I hope this makes him excited to go back to the beach again.
September 5, 2013 at 8:12 pm
I have to say Al – it was AMAZING, I could not believe it and you know what he’s been like in the past – thanks for lovely words x
September 5, 2013 at 4:59 pm

September 9, 2013 at 10:29 pm
Great shots, Em! My boys love jumping and chasing the waves too and you’re right – it’s a great way to teach them how to respect the ocean. 4 sleeps till I see you! x
September 10, 2013 at 3:35 pm
I can’t wait to meet you lovely! And yes the water is so powerful and should be respected as well as frolicked in! xx
September 10, 2013 at 2:59 pm
he looks like he is having a lot of fun. wish l was there
September 10, 2013 at 3:14 pm
Yes he started to really enjoy it! 🙂
September 11, 2013 at 9:34 pm
Well done you on letting him get knocked down. It’s easier to hold their hand, but they are all the stronger for being allowed to make their own little mistakes.
